SIMPLE. FAST. EFFECTIVE.

Our uterine tamponade device works by inserting compressed minisponges into the postpartum uterus through a curved obstetrical applicator that can be quickly inserted by a routine vaginal exam. While inside the uterus, the rapidly-expanding sponges immediately generate and maintain uniform, hemostatic pressure.

The sponges are deployed within a porous, expandable pouch, and can be removed without surgery, by gentle traction on a removal strand.

CAUTION: Investigational Device. Limited by US Law to Investigational Use.

clinical testing

A 2019 pilot clinical study was conducted to evaluate safety, efficacy and ease of use. In all nine postpartum hemorrhage cases, the device was successfully applied with immediate cessation of bleeding, no need for further clinical intervention and no occurrence of device-related adverse events. Further, device application time was markedly less than has been documented with currently-available tools.

Based on clinically-proven XSTAT® technology

Our device is the result of a collaboration with Oregon Health & Science University and RevMedx Inc, and is based on the design principles of the XSTAT self-expanding wound dressing.

The XSTAT device deploys highly-compressed, medical-grade minisponges into a trauma wound via a syringe-like applicator. The minisponges rapidly expand, fill the wound cavity and provide immediate hemostatic effect. XSTAT is capable of stopping high-flow arterial bleeding within seconds, without intrinsic or external compression. This technology is rapid, reliable, and provides a high degree of hemorrhage control in traumatic non-compressible bleeding, like that seen in postpartum hemorrhage.
